OMPT-B syllabus: what topics are covered

OMPT-B builds directly on the OMPT-A foundation and adds two extra topic areas: trigonometry and integration. The full list is: numbers, algebra, linear formulas and equations, systems of linear equations, quadratic equations, functions, exponential functions and logarithms, differentiation, trigonometry, and integration. How difficult is OMPT-B?

OMPT-B is noticeably heavier than OMPT-A: it covers everything OMPT-A does, plus trigonometry and integration, in a longer exam (64 questions vs. 51). Students who found OMPT-A manageable but haven't studied trigonometric identities or integration rules recently should budget extra review time specifically for those two topics — they're the most common gap we see reported.

OMPT-B test example

A representative OMPT-B question on the integration side:

*Evaluate ∫(4x³ − 6x) dx*

Using the power rule for integration: ∫4x³ dx = x⁴ and ∫6x dx = 3x², so the result is x⁴ − 3x² + C.

On the trigonometry side: *If sin(θ) = 0.6 and θ is in the first quadrant, find cos(θ).* Using sin²θ + cos²θ = 1: cos²θ = 1 − 0.36 = 0.64, so cos(θ) = 0.8.

What do the real OMPT-B exam questions look like?

Like OMPT-A, questions are short and single-concept, but the topic pool is wider, so you'll see trigonometric identity and integration questions mixed in alongside the algebra and calculus questions shared with OMPT-A.

Is there an OMPT-B exam PDF?

No official OMPT-B exam PDF exists publicly — it's a proctored, protected test. A full timed mock exam covering the same topic range is the closest realistic substitute for practicing under real exam conditions.
