OMPT Practice Test: How to Prepare and What to Expect
Preparing for an OMPT-style admission exam is less about relearning three years of high school math and more about rebuilding speed and accuracy on a specific, predictable set of topics. Here's how we recommend students structure their preparation.
Step 1: Take a full diagnostic test first
Before opening a single textbook, sit a complete, timed practice exam under real conditions — no notes, no calculator unless the real exam allows one, and a strict clock. This tells you which topics need the most attention instead of guessing.
Step 2: Rebuild the fundamentals topic by topic
Once you know your weak spots, work through them individually: algebraic manipulation, exponents and logarithms, functions, differentiation, integration, and probability are the topics that show up most consistently across OMPT-style exams.
Step 3: Drill timing, not just correctness
Most students who underperform on exam day don't fail because they can't solve the problems — they run out of time. Practicing under a visible countdown, the same way you will on exam day, is what actually moves your score.
Step 4: Take a second full mock exam before the real thing
A second complete timed run, ideally a few days before your real exam, confirms whether your preparation actually translated into faster, more accurate performance — and it's far less stressful to discover a gap two days early than during the real exam.
