Utrecht University OMPT Requirements: Variant & Minimum Score by Program

Utrecht University publishes a clear, specific OMPT requirement for its Economics and Business Economics bachelor's program, with one of the more generous resit policies among the universities we've researched in this series.

Economics and Business Economics

Utrecht requires OMPT-A with a minimum score of 75%, and allows up to three attempts — giving applicants meaningfully more room to recover from a rough first attempt than the one-attempt or two-attempts-per-year policies we've seen elsewhere. This is directly published on Utrecht's official application-and-admission page for the program.

Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)

Utrecht's PPE program is also commonly referenced as accepting OMPT-A given its shared quantitative economics component with the Economics and Business Economics program. However, we were not able to independently confirm the exact minimum score specifically for PPE from a directly fetched, current PPE admissions page at the time of writing. Given the shared math component, a 75% benchmark is a reasonable working assumption, but we recommend confirming the exact current figure directly on PPE's own admission page rather than assuming it's identical to the Economics and Business Economics requirement.

Why a 75% threshold with three attempts changes your prep strategy

A higher percentage threshold paired with a generous resit allowance rewards a different strategy than a lower threshold with only one attempt: rather than over-investing in a single, maximally-prepared attempt, it's often more efficient to sit your first attempt once you're solidly prepared (not necessarily perfect), treat the result as real diagnostic data on top of your own mock exams, and use a focused second push on your specific remaining gaps before a second attempt — all while the 75% bar means you can't coast on partial preparation the way a 60% threshold might allow.

Building a preparation plan around this specific requirement

Given the 75% bar, we'd recommend at least two full-length timed mock exams before your first official attempt (not just one), specifically because a 75% threshold leaves less room for the kind of avoidable timing mistakes that a single diagnostic run might not fully surface.

Exam.ify's full-length practice tests, topic-focused drill packs, and complete worked solutions are built to support exactly this kind of higher-bar preparation. As always, confirm the current variant, minimum score, and attempt limit directly on Utrecht University's official admissions pages, since requirements can change between intakes.
